I am going to say some frightening stuff. If you are not prepared to go there, then you can make it happen by escaping now.
Let’s start out remembering the “terrorists” in the DC area some time ago - the older gentlean and his youthful companion. Driving around in an old car with holes in it to shoot out of.
Suppose maybe 5-10 around LA, NYC, Chicago, and Atlanta. 5 cars, 10 good old boys. You know, “the terrorists”. \
That would cripple those towns. Add DC (which apparently was subjected to a similar event a bit ago) and for my sake we’ll add Tucson, which is a fairly military tech kind of place.
Figure what they are getting in other countries, and imagine it here. And it wouldn’t take many, and it wouldn’t necessarily be foreign at all.
Mailing Kazinski Cards that just sort of randomly explode. Sent to “Occupant” at some actual address.
Cyber attack.
When my sister Dennis was younger she was a part of a coalition of those who would call the Panamanian Embassy at the same time, overwhelming their communications abilities and tying them up so as to not be available to other incoming calls. This is the essence of a DOS attack. Denial Of Service attacks do just that - they make the receiving end deny service to you. Heck, get computer connections as reliable as your cell phone. ‘Nuff said.
Zombie-ize government computers. Again, ‘Nuff said.
All of this could be done pretty easily and cheaply. All of this is foreseeable. Some or all of this may have happened individually before. Therefore, all of this has to be protected against. Is anyone really “protected” if they use a digital highway that is accessible to others?
And then you have to wonder, if it can be done for let’s say $800,000 and it costs 1.73 Gizillion dollars to defend against, you almost have to wonder “At what cost?” Cameras everywhere? How can you predict when a 14 year old kid in the trunk is going to pull the trigger so you can be there to see it going down and you can drop that bitch like stink on crap. Or not.
