2010 elections next week. Here is what Dems should be saying:
When Barak took office 2 years ago, you voted for change, Since then we have learned that to get change we must vote change. The change is not from the majority party because “majority party” doesn’t mean anything anymore unless there are over 60 votes in the Senate, and more in the House, for any change. Without voting into office the votes needed to bring real change, you will not get change. You will get more of the same, regardless of the party in “majority”. More deadlock. Less change. If you want deadlock, vote Republican. If you want the change you voted for, vote Democrat.
Dems should say : A vote for a Republican just means that no one will get anything done in Washington. If you want someone who can’t get things done, vote Republican.
Republicans should say “Yes We Can!”
I am often usually asked on occasion what I mean when I discuss politics, so I will share a bit of my insight into that subject.
Our nation is a tripartite system with a court, a clerk, and the boss. This is historically known as the father, son, and holy ghost, as exemplified by George H.W. Bush and Geore W. Bush, with Dick Cheney as the ghost because he is so pale looking, and sickly too I think. So we have a tripartite system which is much better than the bi system apparently endorsed by Vermont’s legislature.
Amongst and composing this tripartite system are parties, which I think we all know what those are. So, competing camps have these parties and you go where your friends and family go. Whichever party has the most kick-ass group showing up wins and everyone looks up to them (until the next time that is). This is called democracy.
In between the parties and democracy is the notion of republicanism, where each little part is put all together and the sum is more than its parts, because there are no taxes and government is small and all departmentalized. You may see the clear closeness of republicanism and repugnant, but that is what we call the Bradley Effect, which like the related Doppler effect, is why it all sounds louder coming at you and quieter as it goes away toward the edges of the ever-expanding universe.
The President of Iran spoke today and announced that America is falling off the face of the earth. Here he is in the United Nations making his declarations:

My gosh, he is a harsh looking fellow. Lighten up a little, dood!
Go figure. Lending institutes become huge, buying out all the little guys. Then they start making loans to people who shouldn’t qualify for property they can’t afford, collecting fees for originating the loans. Then they sell the loans which are ARMs. Then the people start defaulting because they are not paying the 5.5% they thought, but 12.5% ARMs. Defaults. Problems. More care in lending. Less lending. Because less lending, less profits. Because higher interest rates and greater defaults, lower house prices.
Both Bush and DJ McC announce that our economy is fundamentally sound, and then literally 14 days later Bush is asking for 700 Billion Bux. Saying that if he doesn’t get it immediately the world will end. No time to think about it. This from the same guy who said he was positive Iraq had arms of mass destruction. The guy who was so sure that the stock market was where everyone should be investing, instead of Social Security. The guy who announced some 4 days before last election that El Quaeda was going to attack any moment. The guy is a serial liar, a serious piss poor president, and hopefully he won’t create a total failure of our economic system in the process of creating marshal law in his bid to hold on to control, because undoubtedly he thinks he is doing a great job. The only thing worse than an idiot is an idiot who thinks he is smart, clever, and the ilk.
September ‘08 and the economy is in the proverbial pooper. Thank God we have a representative from God who attended business school so he could do to the U.S. what he apparently has done to every business he has run - into the ground, that is.
Locally we have a woman running for re-election and I want my lawyer friends to post big signs like this:
You can’t see the final letter “E” very well - our sign-maker ran out of large font right at the end.
Ok. It is already 2008 and the dems are getting ready to select their candidate. At this point, I guess Obama is going to be more of a change; Hilary and McCain are basically the same person with small differences, and we are in every problem we were 3 years ago.
Elliot Spitzer retired to focus on what is important in life, like peace.

Question: Ever notice how the dems have problems with ladies, but the Republicans always seem to be getting into trouble with boys? Maybe Spitzer is more of a man than some might give him credit for.

It is December 2005 now. I just got my Christmas card from GW.

Speaking of GW, the week before Thanksgiving, BBC broke news of an interview with BBC and Colin Powell’s former top lawyer, where that lawyer speculated that perhaps war crimes had been committed and possibly Cheney bore responsibility for the decision. This was all over the soundwaves. Two days later, however, there was only talk about W’s upcoming speech on how victory and troop withdrawals would get their timeline, and that this would be what W’s Monday speech was going to be about. Monday came, GW spoke but said nothing new
It is a couple weeks before Thanksgiving. I was grounded today, so I stayed home.
It is sometimes difficult to express the difficulty is figuring out what is going on sometimes. As you may recall, after Preparation H the nation had to prepare for how our government would come to bat for us when the going really got tough. And boy, tough it is.
When 43 announced Operation Bird Brain, I was surprised. It calls for the states to basically take care of themselves. It is pretty much an “Every Man for Himself” approach. Thankfully all Americans will be able to compete (maybe on Ebay) to buy some of that antivirus they have 20 million shots of. Free Market and trickle down. Right.
It is so tough that I couldn’t get financing for my new restaurant, the Vietnamese/Thai inspired haute cuisine in the Grand Rapids metropolitan area. The Bird Flew Inn is closing its doors before we really had much of a chance. Oh well.. C’est la vie. We had to run it up the flagpole and see if anyone would salute. We had to put it in the pipe to see how it smoked. We had to ... well, you get the picture. Anyhow, we won’t be opening the diner as we had hoped.
I tried an egg based place, but The Piece of Crepe did not succeed. This is a shame. A damned shame, I think...
