National Politics
whats_new

I have decided to start dating my entries here so you will be able to prove later on that my keen political insights are right on.

2/11 now, and here’s what is looking possible:

Palin will chose to splinter the Republican vote, figuring Obama is going to win anyway. Here is her campaign pic:   palin_flag1

She will, as they say in politics, come out shooting.

12/10 and people wonder why there were so many Hillary supporters. Bush Jr. league. Folding to give - what, several thousand? - super rich - the top 1% of income-producers, a break on taxes. Those taxes alone would have supported unemployment claims. Jeezus H. Crist. or whatever the guy from Floriday is named - even he was in favor of unemployment.

Arizona’s new law forbidding employers to hire illegal aliens is creating some waves. Why would anyone think a state couldn’t make it illegal in the state to hire someone illegally? That sounds like it should be illegal too.

WikiLeaks - I think they are wrong and shortsighted, but not sure they are the ones doing the illegal act. Unless they aid and abet it  by publishing it after the person who did steal it gave it to them. The original publisher (the illegal guy) didn’t ‘redact’ and had no control over redistribution means and methods. As for companies dropping them (Ebay, Mastercard, etc), I guess it should be up to the parties to whatever contract Wikileaks had with money paths.

It is mid-November and I am reminded how inappropriate - how Bush league if you catch my drift - it is for the USA to be moving 9/11 cases out of NYC. Who is winning on that front?

10-3-10 : Ok. The voters have spoken. Here is what they said. “We don’t want what we have had for the last two years, so we are voting to keep everything like it has been.” This logic just doesn’t work for me. Dems should have screamed, Obama should have screamed, that if people didn’t vote things would stay like they are, and if people wanted change they must vote in the congress needed for that - over 60 senators, majority of the house, because otherwise no one does anything but complain about the other. This is the government we have. What a shame. But it is what people vote in, so who are they to complain?

6-7-10: Ok, what happens when Iran or South Korea agree to protect flotillas in international waters and a navel event happens?

6-1-10 : I have decided that if Dems want to keep any semblance of power, there are several things that must happen soon:

First off, Obama should declare the middle-east wars beyond help, blame Bush, and cut and run. He should say that the money saved will be applied to national debt. He should tell his electorate that he is going to turn America into a more introspective country where we concern ourselves first and foremost with our own problems starting with the deficit.

He should tell Israel that if they can’t act like a civilized nation they can’t have our aide.

He should assure the nation that Iran with nuclear arms is still no real threat to U.S. interests since we still have some bit of advantage strategically.

He should inform the nation that there is no free dinner and if we want to get over our deficit, just like European (and global) economies, we are going to have to cut back on spending and increase taxes.

He should get Congress to immediately set money limits on corporate spending in political races, and Congress should also require corporations to get the explicit consent of shareholders for the spending. Large industrial shareholders should not get a vote, since I don’t put my money into a mutual fund (or whatever) for them to use my vote or proxy to support political idealogies, and those proxies should state exactly what  political spending has taken place for the last 12 months and what is proposed for the future.

And I guess he should take up the tea baggers’ offers to pay his way to support Democratic want-to-be’s.  And mention to voters that if they elect Republicants things will not get better because no one will have a super-majority but by getting just a couple more Dems in office will allow change.

Obama should stop supporting Gitmo, extra-judicial processing of prisoners, and should start taking responsibility for protecting our national borders.

He got it passed. Then he opened up more oil drilling in the waters around America. He spoke at a funeral today. And he is finally mentioning all over about obstructionists. By name, will you? Don’t you want to make them look bad to their constituency before the upcoming elections? Tell those constituents how their elected official is letting them down. Oh, and should we talk about budgets yet?

Today I got a post card about our President’s Health Care Reform proposal. I can in fact respond without knowing about that proposal, which is allegedly similar to the Senate’s version of the bill. It is about time President Obama leads someone somewhere. He is, after all, the leader of all of us, Democrats and the others such as Muslims, Republicans, and El Kieda or however it might be spelled. Al Queada? I don’t know. Do you know the plural of tomato? Potato? So? So anyhow we need a strong person in the White House who will call out, name by name, those who are blocking or obstructing. That is sort of what that bully guy Pulpit is all about, n’est pas? So anyhow, lead, follow, or get out of the way.

Our president has just left a “Muslim State” that is trying to get into the EU.

Quickly but surely several branches of govenment seem to be working individually and together. Nice, eh?

I still continue to remain firm in my belief that there is no politico who isn’t a megalomaniac, but must live with this.

The First Kids are getting a dog, but which one? That is the question, and there is a broad choice from which to chose:

doggy6   doggy1   doggy2   doggy4

Dogs are just so darned cute.
