ASU


		It was the best of times, it was the .... oh, hell - it was decent but not great. Some great and interesting facts about the years I spent in Tempe, Arizona, as a Sun Devil. First of all, I did not have to renounce either God or Christ to become a Devil. A friend jumped out of a plane over campus to show how safe it was and he died when he was hit by someone above him who hadn’t deployed his chute yet. They both died.

	I lived in a dorm 1 semester with the gentleman at the far left. Gary exudes something, n’est pas? Si.


	Second semester I moved into a private dorm right across from the tennis courts, 2 doors down from a great little Mexican restaraunt. Danny White was quarterbacking for the Sun Devils who were great, and Reggie Jackson kept returning to his college to help recruit baseball players there.

Second year I lived in an apartment with Halio Rubin, who was from Elmira, New York, which of course you know best as the home town of Tommy Hillfiger. Hal wasn’t Tommy, but after college he got married and moved back home. Then his wife realized that she hated my guts and wouldn’t let her hubby hang out with such a bad influence. So Hal doesn’t communicate anymore.

But ... of note is that Hal’s brother who also came from Elmira now lives in Tucson and is a member of Skyline Country Club, which is of course where we have a condo. So maybe one day I’ll see Hal again in Tucson. Hal, give me a call in Tucson - I’m in the book.


	Arizona State is not giving the Pres an Honorary Degree for speaking at commencement. MSNBC folks indicated ASU was a good spot to get a Master’s Degree in Lawn Mowing. Of course, then they made fun of Notre Dame, too, so really what is it you expect....
